Vantage Africa publishes weather, climate-risk, crop-quality, price, and hazard data for 37 Nigerian subnational capitals and their local government areas. The read API is open, documented, and licensed for reuse.

Write access: /api/refresh is the only mutating endpoint. It is disabled unless an admin token is configured.

Data are published under CC BY 4.0 unless an upstream source says otherwise. Attribute “Vantage Africa” and the upstream source named in the response.

Boundaries: GADM 4.1 (non-commercial use with attribution). Reference price levels: FAO / World Bank. Weather and climate: Open-Meteo. Hazards: GDACS. Security advisories: UK FCDO. News: Nigerian press and GDELT.

Vantage does not provide farm advice, credit decisions, or insurance underwriting. The data is a decision input; the regulated decision remains with the institution.

For lenders, insurers, cooperatives

We are recruiting three institutions for a 90-day pilot: 250 farmers, about 1,000 hectares, and a measured decision workflow. The pilot tests whether local climate-risk data changes a real loan, insurance, or procurement decision.
